Stocks of senior nuclear reactor developers soared after Britain and the United States announced they would work together to promote nuclear energy technology and cut allowable waiting times.
A memorandum of understanding between the two countries was released on Thursday, outlining cooperation in nuclear energy development. The deal comes from President Trump’s UK visit this week, with nuclear energy and artificial intelligence (AI) being the main themes.
The UK plans to reduce its reactor permit schedule from three to four years to just two years, while the U.S. sets an 18-month target for the review process. This is a huge acceleration that can fundamentally change the speed at which companies like Oklo can deploy their small modular reactors.
The agreement also targets Russia's dominance in nuclear fuel supply. Both countries are committed to canceling Russian fuel imports by 2028. Energy Minister Chris Wright noted at this week's Vienna meeting that he will have a similar partnership with other countries.

Oklo has a great chance. Nuclear energy is taking on various revivals, and with its compact fast reactor design, OKLO may be particularly advantageous and can benefit from streamlined licenses.
Despite this, the company's valuation still made me stop. Oklo has not generated meaningful revenue and transactions, not performance. The technology still needs to be improved and there is no guarantee that continuous management will be as nucleophilic as current nuclear energy. However, if you have high risk tolerance, Oklo is a reliable option.
