Until the 2025 season, injury has become the storyline of the Minnesota Vikings.
Vikings can sign up for who you know. Given the injury, this guy makes a lot of sense.
The club was 1-1, winning the Chicago Bears thriller in Week 1, followed by a clumsy family show and the Atlanta Falcons’ losses.
A former Viking got too much meaning from free agents due to injuries piled up: Cam Akers.
Vikings can call RB Cam Akers – Again

Cam Akers are still free agents
The Akers signed with the New Orleans Saints early in the summer to fight Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller and rookie Devin Neal.
He lost the battle, cut in the lineup and threw it onto the free agent's wires, and was dropped by the Saints. No New Orleans Practice Squad. As a result, Ax needs a job and his former employer (for two consecutive years) may be hiring.
In 2023, Vikings owner Kwesi Adofo-Mensah traded the Akers with the Los Angeles Rams, a low-risk deal to strengthen Alexander Mattison when he struggled and eventually strengthened the RB team when he was injured. Last year, Adofo-Mensah traded the Akers again, this time with the Houston Texans, when Aaron Jones suffered a minor injury.
Fast forward to 2025, and Minnesota can sign Akers directly without any deals. He is free in this regard.
Aaron Jones fights hamstring injury
This is Aaron Jones' hamstring injury Sunday night football.
CBS Sports “Aaron Jones (hamstring) returned to Sunday's game against the Falcons,” noted after the game.
The severity of Jones' injury will become more noticeable this week, but any missed game could prompt Adofo-Mensah to appeal to a familiar man, Akers.

Jordan Mason goes out of his way to take on RB1 duties, but Akers will provide proficiency depth, especially if Jones has hamstring disease lingers.
Ty Chandler is already on IR
All of this? That was above Ty Chandler, the injured reserve.
Chandler will miss the next three games with a knee injury. Many believe Chandler will actually be abandoned on the roster in August, but he lays off because guard CJ Ham was injured.
So yes, Minnesota has three guards and guards at Minnesota as of Monday morning, Sept. 15: Aaron Jones, Ty Chandler and CJ Ham.
That's why such sites are promoting Akers.
Axby Zaville Scott
Meanwhile, sophomore guard Zavier Scott may take more action on the deck. If Jones misses the game, he is the logical next step.

But Akers are better than Scott. Stop all. Scott turned around in the preseason and deserved points during regular season game time, but for a team to regain the incompetent losses of the Falcons, coupled with the desperate need to snap up the offensive, the cheap signing of the Akers is a smarter angle than promoting Scott and “hope to get the best.”
Scott temporarily needs to work as a step-by-step process as RB3 instead of RB2.
News and notes about Ax
Heavy' Max Dible wrote about the Akers last month, linking him to the Cleveland Browns, a possible free agent, “The Cleveland Browns are a little confused in their hands at the running position, but the recent cuts at NFC South have provided a viable solution.”
“Cam Akers lost his job on the New Orleans Saints on Monday, August 25 and passed the release of the X Outpost. Akers, 26, is a five-year pro who won a Super Bowl ring with the Los Angeles Rams after his 2021 campaign. He added his career in 2022, up 786 in 2022 Rushing Yards and 7 the Yarked Yards and 4.2 Yers 4.2 Yards Yard Yard Yard Yard.
Ax is obviously familiar with the Vikings' offense, so if Minnesota drops sharply, adaptation may be seamless.

Dible added: “He also scored 13 passes for 117 yards that season. The Minnesota Vikings traded Axes to reunite with him with head coach Kevin O'Connell, who served as the Rams' offensive coordinator. But the Akers soon destroyed his Achilles ternon and soon broke down The Remaining Year.
“He returned to the field in 2024 and performed well in 17 games (two starts) with Houston Texans and Minnesota. Aix finished the season with an average of 444 yards per quay and 2 TDs, an average of 4.3 yards per quay. He added 14 catches at 68 yards.”
Ax is 26 this summer and his next contract will be affordable.
