Victoria Beckham is seduced by the Spice Girls

  • by admin

If the Gallagher Brothers can get their old band back together, freezing hell in the process, maybe the Spice Girls can do the same.

That's the thought of Victoria Beckham, who interviews Andy Cohen and John Hill for an upcoming special on SiriusXM Andy Cohen Live.

Beckham (or Posh, as she's known as Girl Power everywhere) spoke with Cohen and Hill to promote her new Netflix documentary series of the same name, and the conversation inevitably turned to the Spice Girls.

“Before joining the Spice Girls,” she says in the interview clip, “I was very uncomfortable with them making me feel like I was good enough, but on stage I realized that although it was fun, you know, ultimately it wasn't what I wanted to do anymore.”

But would she consider a residency? Somewhere shiny, like the Sphere in Las Vegas?

“It's tempting,” she commented. “It's tempting, but can I go on a world tour? I can't. I have a job.”

Beckham's husband, David, is a retired British football superstar with an outstanding right foot who was dubbed “Golden Ball” by a generation of sports fans (a nickname she coined herself). Beckham was inspired by another reunited 1990s British band, Oasis, who are set to return to Australian stadiums later this month.

“I love the idea,” Beckham said of another round of Spice Girls performances. “I mean, I don't know if I can sing anymore. I mean I've never been that great.”

Beckham last performed with the Spice Girls in April 2024, when Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Ginger performed impromptu mini versions of “Stop” and “Mama” at her 50th birthday party at London's swanky private club Oswald's. Prior to this, the last time the five members performed together was at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

The Spice Girls formed in 1994 and became a global sensation two years later with their debut single 1996's “Wannabe”. The catchy song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks in early 1997 and was one of the band's nine UK number one singles. British band's debut album spices It spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and topped the UK Official Album Chart for 15 consecutive weeks (follow-up spice world Number one for three weeks in the UK in 1997).

The band went on hiatus in 2000 and returned for a worldwide tour in 2007 and again in 2018-2019, but without Beckham, who has not participated in the group's activities for more than a decade.

In the video below, Beckham also talks about the disappearance of her “boobs,” which were tabloid fodder during the WAG (Wives and Girlfriends) era of British football, and her MO of “empowering women, I want to share my tips and tricks with women.”

Cohen's interview with Beckham will air on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live on Tuesday, October 28.
