The National Guard was found in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, with President Donald Trump's crackdown on the capital.
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser met with federal officials on Tuesday to discuss coordination and strategies for federal law enforcement.
“I’m concerned about the federal surge and how to make the most of the extra official support we have,” she told reporters. “We have the best business in MPD chief Pamela Smith to lead this effort and ensure that men and women from federal law enforcement are fully utilized and if there is a National Guard here, they will be well utilized.”

The National Guard was seen leaving the DC Armory Tuesday morning. As pedestrians walked by, the video captured military vehicles stationed in the street. It is unclear how many troops the city has or what role they will play.

Forces and federal law enforcement exists in the Trump administration’s plan to combat urban crime.
The District of Columbia Sovereignty Act allows Trump to put the Metropolitan Police Department under federal control for 30 days. Trump invoked the law on Monday.

On the first day of the crackdown, federal and local authorities arrested 23 people, including suspects who were asked for murder, gun crimes and other crimes.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said some of the arrested persons were charged for homicide, weapons, obscene behavior and stalking. She added that six illegal guns were also seized.
“These are just a few examples – we're just getting started. Federal partners joined the local police and arrested a total of 23,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X. “When you make good police officers a policeman, they can clean up our streets and do that quickly. Your country's capital will be safe again.”

Regarding Trump's authority, Bowser said her hands were tied, leaving her administration with no choice but to abide by and adapt.
