The FIFA World Cup will be coming to North America next summer, and football fans around the world now know when to know their country's opponents.

President Donald Trump announced Friday that the 2026 World Cup draw will be held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC on December 5.

Trump is increasingly involved in the FIFA event of the 2026 World Cup football match. He participated in the FIFA Club World Cup final earlier this summer at the Metropolitan Life Stadium, which will also be the venue for the FIFA World Cup final on July 19, 2026. Trump also regularly speaks to FIFA President Gianni Intantino, who added his announcement to Friday's announcement.

President Donald Trump stayed on the stage to celebrate their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as Chelsea gathered to lift the trophy.

The 2026 World Cup will have two first games. This will be the first World Cup with three host countries in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and it will be the first World Cup with 48 teams in the field.

There are 11 host cities in the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco/Bay Area and Seattle. Mexico has three owners in Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey. Canada has two owners in Toronto and Vancouver.

The World Cup will be held in Mexico on June 11, 2026. The U.S. men's national team will hold its first Group D match on June 12, 2026 at Sofi Stadium (Los Angeles Stadium) in Inglewood, California. USMNT will play the second game at Lumen Field (Seattle Stadium) on June 19, 2026, before returning to Los Angeles to compete for its group match finale on June 25, 2026.

FIFA, shared by White House officials, predicts that the four-year tournament will attract 6 million fans to the game and bring $30 billion to the U.S. economy.

President Donald Trump met with his appointed World Cup contingent on Tuesday as he ensured the 2026 edition would be “the best football game ever seen in the world.”
