Tommy Devito's Giants run ends, Patriots claim QB in waiver

  • by admin

Tommy Devito travels to New England.

The Patriots claimed the folk hero quarterback and New Jersey native on Wednesday that his romance with his hometown Giants ended.

He will see his former team in Week 13, when the Giants visited Foxborough for “Monday Night Football.”

Devito failed to get the Giants’ 53-man roster on Tuesday – given that the club had Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart’s names all written with permanent markers in the quarterback depth chart, but he still hopes he will be in practice with QB4.

Not so.

Tommy Cutlets at least guaranteed New England's roster for the first three weeks of the regular season due to being asked to waive the waiver.

The 27-year-old made three touchdown passes in the Giants’ preseason final against the Patriots, earning 17-for-17, which may have impressed his new team and ultimately his last time playing on the team.

Drake Maye serves as the Patriots starter, while Devito's figures compete with veteran Joshua Dobbs as a backup.

Devito, an undrafted free agent, was injured by leading the Giants three straight wins in 2023 as Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor were injured.

The Italian Stallion and his agent Sean Stellato became local celebrities, and fans paid nearly $200 for Devito's autograph during his rookie season.

It cannot last forever.
