The release of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 has been delayed, and the game will not launch this year.
The original plan was to have the championship ready this year. But with the end of 2025 still months away, the delay is not surprising.
FromSoftware confirmed in a statement that it is making performance tweaks. The company’s full statement is as follows:
“Regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring Dark Edition, which was originally scheduled to be released in 2025, we have determined that additional time is needed for game performance adjustments, so we have changed the release date to 2026. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to all users who have been looking forward to the game's release. We will continue to make adjustments to deliver it in the best form possible, so we kindly ask for your understanding. Thank you very much for your support.” Patience. “
Elden Ring has been played on Nintendo Switch 2 before at various events including Gamescom. However, it was criticized for its inconsistent framerate. With the extra time, hopefully the team can resolve the performance issues.
