Southwind Foods, LLC of Carson, California Voluntary recall of a limited number of Frozen shrimpdue to possible contamination of radionuclides (Cesium-137). CS-137 is an artificial radioisotope for caesarean section. Traces of CS-137 are broad, can exist in background-level environments, and are at a higher level in water or food grown, raised or produced in areas with environmental pollution. The main health effect of repeated low dose exposure (e.g., over time, through contaminated food or water consumption) is the increased risk of cancer, which is due to damage to DNA within living cells of the body.

Bags of frozen shrimp products are distributed to retailers, distributors and wholesalers in the following states from July 17 to August 8, 2025: Alabama, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Virginia and Washington.

Consumers who have purchased recalled frozen shrimp should not eat the product, nor should they dispose of the product or return it to the purchase location for a full refund.
