With a season record of 1-4, they just traded to take a top defensive core.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the news Tuesday afternoon: Odafe Oweh will be traded to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The star pass charger goes from one of the Harbo brothers to the other.

Ovi scored a career-high 10 sacks in 2024. He hasn't knocked down the quarterback this season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the deal has four parts:

  • Charger gets: Odafe Oweh, Rams ranked seventh in 2027

  • Crows get: Alohi Gilman, Chargers ranked sixth in 2026

It's logical for the Chargers to find a player like Ovi. After starting the season with three impressive victories, they suffered one after another disappointing defeat. Adding some energy to the passing craze is a great way to try to bounce back.

The Ravens asked Gilman to help out in safety, as they suffered a serious shortage of staff due to injuries. They also signed CJ Gardner Johnson to help on Tuesday.

Gilman played for all six seasons in the NFL and started 39 games in 73 games. He has 5 interceptions and 252 tackles in his career.

Given that Gilman is also a starting level player, this is not a complete rebuild.

But Oweh is a senior staff member who was sent out of the city. If the Ravens had a record of 4-1 and were healthy, they might not have taken such a move.

But that's not the case, so the deal has been changed. Maybe this will make a difference.
