Lonzo Ball really didn't know Cleveland was near Lake Erie?

  • by admin

Cleveland, Ohio – On his first day in his Knights uniform, newbie Lonzo Ball is already making a sensation.

As part of the team’s annual media day, Ball was asked about his brief time in Cleveland and what he learned about the new basketball player.

“I love Cleveland,” Ball said. “I've been joking with guys, I didn't even know there was water in Cleveland.”

Ball's funny and stunning comments were all the rage on Monday, and many were confused by his lack of geography.

Cleveland is of course located on the southern shore of Lake Erie and is the most populous city on the Great Lakes.

In another interview on the team’s live media day show, Ball was told about his reaction to his comments. He can only laugh at it and take responsibility.

“I don't know,” Ball said with a smile. “I’ve been here for the last eight years, so that’s me.

Apparently, the Californian also played for the Lakers, Pelicans and Bulls during his NBA career, and he is still adapting to his new dig.

“It's great to get out of the house,” Ball said. “The weather is great. I know that won't last too long. The food is good. People are great. I don't complain.”

After winning the Eastern Conference Best 64 games, the Cavaliers were eliminated by Indiana in the second round of the playoffs. As part of this summer’s roster, Cleveland acquired Ball from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Isaac Okoro, a move that has already gained a glow from coaches and teammates.

“It’s been a lot of time,” Donovan Mitchell said of the ball catch. “He's a guy who sees the floor naturally. He's a defender. We've been in the league together, the same draft class, and he's been a defensive pest because of his IQ, his IQ. It's part of his brain, I think I think it'll help us a lot.”

The ball has the same excitement.

“I'm just trying to help win the championship,” Ball said. “Do what I can. Be a good teammate. I'm a guy who can have a lot of people on the court and on the court. Everyone is cool and welcomes me with open arms. As long as we play with each other, I think we'll be fine.

“Looking forward to getting started.”
