ESPN analyst Ryan Clark is arguably the toughest critic of Los Angeles Charger quarterback Justin Herbert. But Herbert devoured his words on Friday night after he beat Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.
Herbert won the 27-21 season, defeating the Chiefs on the national stage. Herbert completed 25 of 34 free throws for a total of 318 yards and three touchdowns to earn a zero draft pick. In addition, Herbert took the ball to 32 yards seven times.
Herbert beat the game for the first time in the battle later in the fourth quarter and won the full game. It's safe to say that Herbert's 2025 campaign has already made a great start.
If you've heard of Clark in a week, you'd think Herbert couldn't be able to see on Friday night. Clark stood out on ESPN's “wake up” saying the charger signal caller cannot be done through the clutch.
“For Justin Herbert, this guy is the quarterback we've gotten to the top 10, and his own coach says everyone else needs to improve their game so that he's terrible in situations where Justin Herbert is horrible,” Clark said.
Clark is very free to veteran signal summoners when Herbert holds a show against the Chiefs.
“Yes. Justin Herbert showed off his entire A-Tonight! Can't play a better football game. They put everything on him and he gave birth every time!” Clark yelled.
If you're wondering, Clark hasn't addressed his comments since Thursday. Passionate artists like Clark are shocked and don't admit he is wrong (if you don't catch it, that's ironic).
No one overlooks the fact that Herbert did not succeed in the playoffs in his career, but rather that it is not entirely accurate to say that when Herbert is “terrible” in the most important situation.
The top six draft picks gave the Chargers a 12 fourth-quarter comeback and 16 games to win in their careers.
There is no doubt that Herbert's next step is to win the playoffs and perform well in the above games. But he certainly deserves recognition, one of his best players in the NFL promotional position, which we saw on Friday night.
