With the long-awaited release stranger things Season 5 is just around the corner, and creators Matt and Ross Duffer have dashed some fans' fantasies about the return of fan-favorite character Eddie Manson.
Played by Season 4 breakout Joseph Quinn, his role as a short-lived heavy metal rocker and leader of the Hellfire Club catapulted him to the likes of Fantastic Four: The First Step The Duffer brothers, who have worked on high-profile projects like Sam Mendes' Beatles quartet movie, insist the character transcends even the Upside Down.
“I love it when Joe Quinn plays people off! But no, he's dead,” Matt Duffer told empire in a new interview. “Anyway, Joe was too busy and everyone should have known he wasn't coming back. He's made five movies since then! When will he have time to film?” stranger things? No, sadly, rest in peace. He was totally in that underground. ”
In Season 4, Eddie plays a key role in distracting Vecna's (Jamie Campbell Bower) demonstrators while others launch an assault on Creel House's Upside Down Fortress. Elsewhere in the interview, the Duffers also revealed a new character: Linda Hamilton plays Dr. Kay, a heroine-type character playing the government agent tracking down Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).
“She's super smart and intimidating,” Matt Duffer teased Dr. Kay. “She's a scientist, but she can go into battle and shoot if she needs to.”
The first volume of the three-part final season will be released on November 26. Find the runtime of each episode here. Earlier this year, Ross Duffer teased that the final show would bring a cinematic farewell.
