Jacksonville, Fla. – Trevor Lawrence played more than two momentum in the NFL game, and the Jacksonville Jaguars' quarterback was a little rusty, and it's been nine months.
But Lawrence is happier than his first regular season game since December 1, his first victory in the Everbank Stadium since October 6.
“It’s been a while,” Lawrence said after defeating the Carolina Panthers 26-10. “It feels great. It’s fun to get back there.
“It's fun to win. It's amazing.”
It's not Lawrence's best game, but rather his first game since the overhaul, the first for No. 1 in 2021, considering layoffs, playing for his third head coach and another offensive system.
“I think he communicates well,” coach Liam Cohen said. “We're in and out of the hush. There's a delay [penalty]but this is indeed a communication error for us as coaches. I thought he handled it well. Honestly, I don't think he's in the third quarter. You know, when we keep people open we need to be more accurate and finish some balls, but overall, for his first start in the new system, he handled it very well.

“He brought us into the drama. He had to [change] Many dramas, he did it effectively, and did it effectively. I am proud of his leadership. ”
Cohen said last week that one thing he was curious about is how Lawrence will deal with what he called “gray.” In other words, how would Lawrence react when the protection was ruptured, was his receiver covered up, or was he confused by the report?
Answer: Very good. Lawrence had four scrambles for 12 yards, two of which led to the first game, which included a 4-yard run on the third and 3 of the Carolina 14-yard line to extend the drive ending with his TD pass to the tight Hunter Long.
The battle is eye-catching because his 2024 season ended in the battle after a suspicious blow from Houston Texans guard Azeez al-Shaair.
“I'm not what I thought of to be honest,” Lawrence said. “I think just using legs is a weapon in this league, and the way you see the league, especially now. It's what you have to do. The defense is good. They're covering people up. Sometimes it has to happen, and they don't have an extra defender for quarterbacks. Just find a way to use my legs and be able to keep driving.”
Lawrence finished 19-31 at 178 yards and scored a touchdown with an interception, which took a deep attack on Travis Hunter. He also played a ball to Brian Thomas Jr. and was punished for intentionally taking root in another inning.

Next week's next test for QB Joe Burrow and receivers Ja'marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the Cincinnati Bengals.
“There's a lot to clean up,” Lawrence said. “I don't think it's bad to operate, but obviously we have to clean up some penalties. I think there are a few times we've been slowly online, falling behind the game clock. … It's starting with me taking the phone quickly and putting these guys in chaos and … There's a sense of urgency.
“In general, there were too many fines, but hey, I found a way to win. I found the finish line a few times, was able to score, we had a great defensive performance, and [the offense] A great ball run. I did a lot of good things today, we won, and most importantly. ”
