The news comes in a big introduction to the NBC sketch comedy series, and this week saw Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim and Devon Walker's departures ahead of Season 51.
Last season, Gardner was the longest female actor at the moment. In Season 49, she appears more sketches than any other actor. She is known for her “weekend update” roles, including teen film critic Bailey Gismert and Angel, “Every boxer's girlfriend in every movie has boxing ever.”
Outside of “SNL”, Gardner appeared in “Shrink” with Jason Segel and “The Other Two” and the Adam Sandler basketball movie “Hustle.”
NBC refused to allow producers to comment.
Gardner marks the latest example of a roster refresh that took place in Studio 8H. Walker announced on August 25 that he announced from “SNL” on Instagram, “I've been with the show for three years and it's really cool sometimes. Sometimes it's toxic. But we've made the most of everything in all of our dysfunctions, and even made the most of all our dysfunctions.
“I won't be back in SNL next year. It's a call intuition, but I'm so grateful for my time there,” Vakim wrote in his announcement. “Every time I scan a building, I think how crazy it is to work there. It's the scariest, most exciting and meaningful experience of my life, and I'll miss it so much, and all the smart people working there feel like home.”
“Saturday Night Live” will return to the premiere of Season 51 on October 4 on NBC. The new season comes from the landmark 50th anniversary high heels, which comes with several documentaries, a Radio City Hall concert special and three-hour television broadcasts, with the “SNL” legend.
