It's time to return to the Seven Kingdoms.
HBO has released the first trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The six-episode half-hour series will premiere on January 18.
The show's official plot reads: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wander Westeros, a young, naive but brave knight, the tall Ser Duncan, and his diminutive squire, Egger. The story takes place in a time when House Targaryen still holds the Iron Throne, the memory of the last dragon has not yet faded from memory, and great fates, powerful foes and dangerous exploits await them.” These incredible and unparalleled friends. ”
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is adapted from the novella “The Story of Dunk and Egg” by author George R.R. Martin. Peter Claffey plays Ser Duncan the Tall, a hedge knight in Westeros, and Dexter Sol Ansell plays his young squire Egg, who is actually Prince Aegon Targaryen (no relation to the character of the same name in HBO's other prequel series, House of the Dragon.)
The series also stars Finn Bennett, Bertie Cavill, Daniel Ingalls, Tamzan Crawford, Sam Spruill, Ross Anderson, Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Yusuf Kocur, Daniel Monks, Sean Thomas, Tom Vaughn-Lawler, Steve Wall and Danny Webb.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is written and executive produced by Martin Parker and Ella Parker (“House of the Dragon”). Ryan Condal (House of the Dragon), Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris and Sarah Bradshaw will also serve as executive producers. Adina Smith (“Chemistry,” “Hannah”) will direct three of the season's six episodes, with Harris directing the final three.
