Francisco Alvarez suffered thumb injury on IL (report)

  • by admin

Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is about to be on the list of injuries due to a right thumb injury, according to a report by MLB network insider Joel Sherman. The club has not confirmed the news yet.

“At that time, I was like, 'Don't mess with it.' “And, you know, I basically took it from him. I don't want him to play football. ”

Alvarez returned to New York on Monday to receive an MRI when the Mets headed to Washington, D.C. and opened a series with the Nationals on Tuesday.

Alvarez missed nearly two months after suffering a sprained left thumb in 2024, while the left hamate bone in spring training took him a month in regular season.

Alvarez, 23, has been excellent in the set since returning to the Mets from Triple-A. In 21 games since July 21, right-handed batsman cut .323/.408/.645, with four home runs, six doubles and 13 RBIs.
