Donald Trump: U.S. President “will transfer World Cup games from unsafe cities”

U.S. President Donald Trump said he will play from any city he believes is unsafe to the World Cup football game.

It is planned to host 11 U.S. cities at the 48 Team Championship next summer, co-hosted by Canada and Mexico.

The United States will have 78 out of 104 fixtures, including the final.

The world governing body FIFA is responsible for organizing competitions and selecting host cities, and any changes now or later will face logistical challenges.

It is unclear whether Trump has the right to make such a change, although he does have a close working relationship with President Gianni Infantino and is the chairman of the World Cup contingent.

“This is safe for the World Cup,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “If I think it's not safe, we'll move it to another city.”

The 11 host cities in the United States are Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.

Trump has special inquiries in Seattle and San Francisco Democrats run cities. Both will host six games.

He also mentioned Los Angeles – another Democratic stronghold, which will host the 2028 Olympics and eight games next year.

“If we think it would be a bit dangerous for any city in the World Cup or Olympics, but for the World Cup, because they play in so many cities, we will not allow it to go. We will move a little bit.”
