The Indianapolis Colts have chosen to adopt a more experienced option to start the pivotal season of the 2025 season.
The Colts announced on Tuesday that Daniel Jones was in the starting quarterback of Anthony Richardson, their regular season opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 7.
NFL network insider Tom Pelissero first reported the news. Pelissero added that Colts head coach Shane Steichen informed QBS of his decision Tuesday morning.
“He is the starting quarterback this season,” Stephen said of Jones on Tuesday on the Indianapolis star. “I don’t want a small strap on it.”
The news came days after Indianapolis’ second preseason game, with Jones completing seven of 11 passes for 11 yards, while Richardson scored six passes for 73 yards in 11 shots.
The Colts signed Jones in the offseason, a competition for Richardson, the fourth-placed draft pick in the 2023 draft, who struggled with health and performance in his first two seasons.
