This isn't the first time the proud dad has praised Sophie and her work ethic. He praised her coverage during the Los Angeles fires in January 2025.

“When the fire happened, I had hundreds of comments from people saying how great she was at improv on the front lines of the fire,” he told People in February. “She's amazing.”

Bobby said he downloaded the news station's app to watch her updates.

“I'm watching it 24 hours a day. She's not sleeping. I mean, it's crazy,” he said, adding, “I'm so proud of her because more than anything, she's getting really important information out to people who need it…and she's awesome. I'm like, 'Who is this girl?' ”

In January 2021, Bobby told People magazine that in addition to her “great work ethic,” he was proud of Sophie “because she's such a good person.”

“You ask anyone who knew Sophie and they can't stop talking about her. She was a really lovely woman and very inclusive,” he added.

He noted, “She had some coolness, she was very savvy, but she was a very accepting person,” adding, “She never wanted anyone to feel excluded, and she was always thinking about that kind of thing.”

Sophie was working at ABC7 at the time of the interview, and Bobby was surprised by his daughter's success and said he was a “lucky dad.”

“I have always been proud to see Sophie achieve so well in her career,” Bobby said.

“I've watched her take on challenges in her career, and she's done it basically through what I've done, which is hard work,” he added. “So when she told a story, my chest got big because I thought, 'That's great. This is my baby.'”
