Are the tiger playing today? Timetable, Tarik Skubal's next start

Detroit Tigers' Scott Harris doesn't believe Tarik Skubal

Scott Harris, president of the Detroit Tigers baseball business, talked about how Tarik Skubal's status affects front-end plans on July 31, 2025.

The Detroit Tigers don't look that hot right now, but they have ace on the mound to start the next series.

After throwing two of the three games to the Minnesota Twins, the Tigers started on Friday to Sunday with the Los Angeles Angels three-game home series. The first game of the series will feature Cy Young's favorite Tarik Skubal as he hopes to push the Tigers to a series win.

Skubal led all pitchers in FWAR (5.7), second in strikeouts (182) and ERA (2.18), entering Thursday's game. He proposed another quality start on his last outing, and he made seven innings and 10 innings in seven innings in Saturday, August 2, in the Tigers’ 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

However, his performance has been one of the few highlights for the Tigers over the past week.

The team was 2-4 in August, with a six-game lead at AL Central Flats since June 5. Deadlines like Chris Paddack and Rafael Montero have not been put into a move to turn the team’s fate, although Charlie Morton effectively pitched in his Tigers debut (losed 2-0 against Phillies on Sunday.

The Tigers' six-game lead in second-place Cleveland Guardians remains the biggest division lead in baseball, and now they face an Angels team with five games below .500 and are currently fourth in the AL West.
