Bears will miss RB D'Andre Swift against Bengals

Along with Swift, running back Rochon Johnson (back) was also ruled out Sunday. With Swift sidelined and Johnson missing his second straight game, rookie Kyle Monungay will get more playing time against the Bengals.

The Rutgers product has started in all seven games for the Bears and has seen an uptick in reps over the past few weeks, with his most productive game coming on Oct. 19 against the Saints when he rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

Monangay told reporters on Friday that starting is “something I've been working toward,” so his preparation remains the same all week. Now given the chance to see the court more consistently, Monangay will look to showcase his abilities in all four quarters on Sunday.

“In a way, my job is to wear the defense out and try to make them stop trying to tackle me, like I'm going downhill on them,” Monange said. “It gives me a better feel for the game. Ultimately, once I get a feel for what they're doing that day, who I can attack more and what I can do, I feel like I'm going to get better as the game goes on.”

Rookie Luther Burden III (concussion) and defensive end Dominique Robinson (ankle) have also been ruled out for Sunday's game. Linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga (knee) is questionable after a full week of practice. He has not been activated from the injured reserve list.

Both sides did receive positive injury news heading into Sunday's game, with tight end Cole Kmet and cornerback Tyrik Stevenson, who missed last Sunday's game in Baltimore, returning in Cincinnati. When asked about Stevenson's status, Johnson joked about the energy throughout the secondary in practice this week.

“I would say the first thing I’ve noticed, not just with Tyrik but with the middle school as a whole, is they’re a little louder right now,” Johnson said. “between [Jaquan[ Brisker, C.J. [Gardner-Johnson] Tilik and Tilik were there at the same time, and I heard their voices. He looks good. He looks like his normal self and it’s great to see this team play here this weekend. “
