Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement confirmed that he has been wearing a glove purchased on eBay during the team's 2025 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“My other one was broken, so I needed a quick pipe that was already broken,” Clement explained Friday on MLB Network Radio. “My other stuff isn't broken the way I'd like.”
Clement previously revealed that he purchased the glove a few months before the Fall Classic.
“My gloves were already worn out, so this one looked good on eBay, so I bought it,” he said after Toronto's ALCS win over the Seattle Mariners, according to ESPN's Tim Kurkjian. “I had to wear a glove under the glove because it was so old and had no padding in it.”
The glove has served Clement well all year, and he was named a Gold Glove finalist at third base on Oct. 15.
The 29-year-old hit .277 with nine homers and 50 RBIs in 157 regular-season games as he continued to improve during Toronto's postseason run.
Clement slashed .391/.397/.531 in 16 postseason games and has hit in 11 consecutive games. He had a sacrifice fly in the Blue Jays' 6-1 Game 5 victory over the Dodgers on Wednesday to give them a 3-2 series lead.
Toronto looks to wrap up the World Series in Game 6 on Friday night.
