The Buffalo Bills look to continue their winning streak when they host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. After two consecutive losses, Bills quarterback Josh Allen and his teammates bounced back with a 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
“Any time you face a good team and a good quarterback, you have to play your best to win a football game,” Allen told reporters Wednesday.
“There's a greater awareness of knowing who's on the other side of the football. Our goal is to try to score on every drive and that's what we try to do.”
The Chiefs are in good shape as they defeated the Washington Commanders 28-7 on Monday Night Football for their third consecutive victory. While Allen and the Bills have been studying tape of Patrick Mahomes and his teammates all week, they didn't watch the live broadcast of the Commanders-Chiefs game because it was the same night as their annual Halloween party.
Last year, Allen and his wife, Hailee Steinfeld, hosted the Bills' Halloween party. Stanfield went all out and hired a costume designer to create their circus-themed costumes. She noted in her newsletter Beau Society at the time, “Josh and I never considered ourselves big Halloween people.” However, after hosting “the best night ever… now, I think we're into Halloween(?)”
As it turns out, the enthusiasm didn't quite last. The Oscar-nominated actress showed off her last-minute outfit just two days before The Chief's showdown with Bill.

In the latest episode of “Beau Society,” Stanfield gushed over seeing people dressed up as Mary, her character from the movie “The Sinner.”
The 28-year-old thought it was a good idea and did the same after a “last-minute scramble” just two hours before the party. “But there's a more niche, specific idea: Marie from the '90s! High-waisted jeans, leather jacket, high pony, lollipop (Blow Pop?). Just a thought,” she wrote.
While Stanfield didn't reveal whether Allen would be playing a '90s version of Stark (Mary's favorite in the horror movie starring Michael B. Jordan), she did share the famous couple's outfits from two years ago.
Allen and Stanfield dressed up as Bobby Bush and Vicki Walungu from “The Waterboys.” Stanfield wrote of the costume's design: “It was at the last minute, simple, simple.”
Josh Allen calls wife Hailee Steinfeld 'the most fulfilling thing in his life'
While Allen is the league's reigning MVP and signed a new six-year, $330 million contract before the season with a record $250 million guaranteed, all of those accomplishments pale in comparison to being married to Stanfield.
When asked what the most fulfilling part of his life is now, “My wife,” Allen said. “My wife is an incredible, undeniable rock star in her job. In her life, she is everything I need in my life.”
Love and admiration will be reciprocated. In an interview earlier this month, Stanfield discussed how her life has changed since marrying the 29-year-old quarterback. “What we do is so unpredictable and he works on such a strict schedule,” Stanfield told Variety.
“So it's actually been a blessing – I try to schedule my time so I can be with him. This time of year, I hunker down, slow down, support him and enjoy life. When the offseason comes, for me it's time to go.
“I had never experienced this part of my life before—outside of work. I got a better understanding of what it means to slow down and share with others. It's the greatest thing that's ever happened.”
