Coastal flood warning affects 3 New Jersey counties until Thursday evening

  • by admin

At 3:57 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Hudson, Essex and Union Counties in effect from 1 to 5 p.m.

“Flooding of one to two feet above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near oceanfronts and shorelines,” the weather service commented.

“Minor flooding will occur at more vulnerable locations near the seafront and coastline. Some roads and low-lying areas including car parks, parks, lawns and homes and businesses with basements close to the seafront will experience minor flooding,” the Met Office commented. “If you need to travel, please allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not bypass roadblocks or cross water of unknown depth. Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone properties.”
