Strands, new york times'Advanced word search game that requires players to put a twist on the classic word search. Words can be made up of linked letters – up, down, left, right or diagonally – but words can also change direction, creating wacky shapes and patterns. Each letter in the grid will be part of the answer. There is always a theme connecting each solution, as well as a “spangram,” a special word or phrase that summarizes the day's theme and spans the entire grid either horizontally or vertically.
