Nearly three weeks after signing Seth Curry to a one-year contract, the Golden State Warriors have waived him.
The 35-year-old journeyman guard, who is also Stephen's brother, is not expected to be away from the Bay Area for long. Curry is expected to return to the Warriors sometime early in the NBA season, ESPN's Anthony Slater reports.

Curry was waived due to the Warriors' lack of salary cap flexibility. Their roster has $206.3 million committed, just shy of the $207.8 million on the second apron, and falls short of Curry's veteran-minimum contract.

That means No. 15 on the Golden State Warriors' roster will be empty when the new season begins.
Curry practiced with the team during the preseason and traveled with the Warriors on their only road trip but did not participate in those games.
Curry spent the 2024-25 season with the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds, mostly coming off the bench. He becomes a free agent after the season. If he ends up returning to the Warriors, it will be his fifth team in the past five seasons.

This also marks the first time the Curry brothers have been together on an NBA team. Steph has spent his entire career with the Warriors after being drafted by the Warriors with the seventh overall pick in 2009. The two-time MVP and two-time scoring champion has been a central figure in the Warriors' four-time NBA championship dynasty. He averaged 24.5 points and 6 assists per game with the Warriors last season, while averaging a league-high 4.4 three-pointers per game.
The Warriors recorded 48 wins and 34 losses last season and fell to the Western Conference semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons.
The Golden State Warriors open the regular season on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
