The move allowed him to keep his redshirt for the next stop.
This season he has rushed 37 times for 152 yards and one touchdown. Prior to that, he had a stellar freshman year, rushing 78 times for 377 yards and four touchdowns.
It’s hard to take snapshots after returning Trey Wisner and appear James Simon and Christian Clark as a competitive option. Despite being highly ranked in the 2024 class and highly regarded by former Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice, Gibson was unable to establish himself in Austin, with dropped balls a major issue.
With a current record of 5-2 and CJ Baxter still feeling unwell and missing practice, the Hornets will have a three-man rotation between Wisner, Clark and Simon.
Justin Wells helped confirm.
