Patrick Murray, British actor, best known for playing Mickey Pearce in the BBC sitcom Only fools and horses, passed away last month after an on-and-off battle with cancer. He is 68 years old.

according to The Guardian, Murray died on September 29. He revealed for the first time that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and had a lung tumor removed. The next year, he shared that his doctors told him that his lung cancer was “cured” and the tumors in his liver were “shrinking.”
However, in 2023, Murray announced that his cancer had returned. “I had discovered another primary cancer last year that I had been hiding from them,” he explained at the time.
The actor also revealed that he underwent transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), a procedure that limits the blood supply to the tumor. Half of his liver was also removed along with the tumor.
“A few months ago, I thought I had a strained groin and it was painful,” he said of his cancer diagnosis. “Unfortunately, the cancer has entered my pelvic and leg bones. It has also entered my lymphatic system.”
He is survived by his second wife, Anong Murray, and four children. He has three children with his ex-wife, Shelley Wilkinson, whom he was married to from 1981 to 1996.

Speaking of Patrick Murray, a BBC spokesperson said: “We are very sad to hear of the death of Patrick Murray, who was much loved for his role as Mickey in Mickey. Only fools and horses. Our hearts go out to his friends and family. ”

Before appearing on the BBC show, Murray appeared in a number of films, including Tetrapodism and Curse of the Pink Panther. He has also appeared in other television shows such as gain the upper hand and Bill.
