WR Deebo Samuel (heel) active against Bears on Monday night

  • by admin

Jayden Daniels and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will likely be breathing a sigh of relief before kickoff.

Deebo Samuel is active for the Washington Commanders' game against the visiting Chicago Bears on Monday night.

Samuel missed two practices this week and was limited in another with a heel injury. However, he won't join Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) as Washington's wide receivers, as both were previously ruled out.

With McLaurin playing just three games, Samuel has emerged as the team's leading receiver by a wide margin, with 30 catches (16 more than any other player and 20 more than any other receiver), 300 yards (151 more than any other player and/or receiver) and a team-best three receiving touchdowns.

In addition to Samuel, tight end Zach Ertz is the team's other top target (14 catches, 149 yards, two touchdowns), while Luke McCaffrey and Chris Moore are also likely to have their roles increased. Even with Samuel being bruised and battered, this is still a serviceable small unit for Daniels.

The Commanders (3-2) take on the Bears (2-2) in the second half of a Monday night doubleheader.
