At the beginning of their interview, Ted Lasso Star admits he is familiar with Barrymore's tendency to be comfortable with talk show guests and challenged her a sofa chicken game.

“Drew, I've reached an agreement with myself,” Goldstein declared, approaching her. “I've watched your show and every time you move near me, I'll approach you. So this is the chicken game now, okay?”

Barrymore seemed surprised by this tactic. “Wow, will anyone make money for me?” she said. “Okay, I'll accept it.”

During the final six seasons of her talk show, Barrymore has been criticized and praised for her iconic comfort interviews that often see her holding hands, rub shoulders and embracing guests. She had previously admitted that she was trying to keep a certain space between guests and guests these days, but as she told Goldstein, “That’s how I really stay with friends.”

Barrymore continued: “If you see me walking on the street with someone, I will hold their hands and I will stretch out my arms and I will hug them. None of this is fake.

“It’s a daytime show, right?

The two kept cool and kept knee-to-knee for most of the interviews until Barrymore asked Goldstein about his love for her, and Adam Sandler's 2004 film, 50 first dates.

50 first dates It’s one of my favorite movies,” Goldstein declared, prompting Barrymore to scream excitedly and pull him into a hug.

The two were still committed to this even when they were pulled apart, and Goldstein expressed deep appreciation for Rom-com.

“I think it's so beautiful. It's so nice that you two are together,” he said of her and Sandler. “But, as a concept, I think it's the most romantic idea, and I love that she didn't heal in the end. No… They have to start over every day and show why they love each other. It's the most romantic idea in the world. It's a beautiful movie.”

When Goldstein realized how close they were to sit, he finally started to laugh. “What, what?!” Barrymore asked, and he replied, “I just realized what's going on.”

Barrymore placed his arm on Goldstein's leg and pressed his face next to him, stretching it to a level before she could not get close to and finally admits failure.

“How is that?” she asked, walking away until she and Goldstein were on the other end of the sofa. “It's not too interesting, you're right,” Goldstein admitted.

“It's really very different,” Barrymore said. “We both stepped over the arms, and I think it's interesting. We did set a boundary.”

“We did develop some interdependence here, and then here we were like, 'If you're leaving, I'm leaving.'” Goldstein joked.

Barrymore eventually pointed out that it was “weird” to be so high before skipping and pulling Goldstein into a hug. “Thank you, Drew,” he said. So, maybe they both won in the end?
