Kitty Hawks' Odell Beckham Jr.? Why isn't this a crazy idea

The Philadelphia Eagles are always in the business of increasing talent.

For example, looking at recent weeks, Philadelphia has played two games this season — and won two — but it has added Za'darius Smith and Tank Bigsby separately. The running room seemed to be in a good place, but Will Shipley's injury obviously made the Eagles want to look around at least.

If you have the title ready, the initial response might be a line of “Eagles have some extensive receivers, why add another one?”

That's right. The Eagles now have AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Darius Cooper and John Metchie III on the roster. Generally speaking, the pass offense has not been clicked yet. The Hawks had only 253 yards in two games.

Although this is the case, the Eagles are still storing as much talented work as possible. Currently, Beckham is arguably the most talented receiver and makes it clear that he has no plans to retire and is looking for the right opportunity.

“Retirement didn't happen,” Beckham said in an interview with Complexity. “I just came out of the gym. This is the first time I've had a bed in a long time, or if the dog is going to chase me, I can run. I'm fine. I know I can play in the league right now.

“I don't want to be someone's first range catcher and get 15 goals. Like, man, I know the game. I got it developed…I just wanted to play on a good team that plays a role, and in the role I play, I got five, six, seven games, and I got a chance to catch…I just want to play and do the game for myself.”

Beckham played nine games last year for the Miami Dolphins, with 55 yards. The previous year, he had the Baltimore Ravens with 565 yards. He missed the 2022 season and had 537 yards in 2021.

With Beckham, the reason for taking action is to store depth higher than everything else. Now, he doesn't have many offers there. Why not roll the dice and see if he can practice squad? Preparing for pre-production in case of injury is much better than figuring out whether a disease pops up.

Now, the Eagles don't need to take action. If you look at the types of action Philadelphia has taken over the years, sometimes they don't really need to be needed, that's redundant. Even Smith. He looks great, but Philadelphia has added some edge sprints in the past offseason. Smith is just a better choice.

Why at least you can't see the practice team?
