Pirates urge to hire former Yankee legend to keep Paul Skenes in Pittsburgh

  • by admin

The media still hopes that Pittsburgh Pirates continue to move forward from Paul Skenes, and from a Pittsburgh perspective, the decision simply makes no sense.

Not only did the Pirates have the best arms in Major League Baseball, he was only 23 years old and didn't play free agent until 2030.

Even if the Pirates don't think they can keep the Skenes in a day or so, they still have a few years in the roster to consider moving.

What can pirates do to make Paul Skynis happy?

But with questions about what the Pirates’ long-term future looks like, especially in another possible fifth place in the middle of the National League, banning anything violently happening to the St. Louis Cardinals and firing their manager during the campaign, some believe the Pirates must allow Skenes to make the next decision on the team manager.

In search of potential names, Fansed's Jake Elman lists the options for former New York Yankees legend Don Mattingly.

“If the Pirates explore other coaching candidates, then they should ask Skynis, what he and his teammates want to want in the next manager. Does the Pirates' Chamber want a strike-oriented manager, or do they prefer someone with a pitching background? How does Pittsburgh feel about Pittsburgh?

“These are recognized basic issues, but they are issues that Pirates need to discuss with Skenes. Pittsburgh made it clear that while they may receive a lofty reward, they are not going to be able to trade their trump card anytime soon.”

Mattingly currently serves as a backup coach for the Toronto Blue Jays and has management experience with the Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Still not sure if he wants to be a full-time manager, but he might be very suitable for Pittsburgh.
