The Social Security Agency sends monthly payments (SSA benefits) regularly, but the dates vary – usually depending on the date you were born. Social Security Retirement, Disability and Survivor (RSDI) beneficiaries filed after May 1, 1997 are assigned to the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month.

Those who receive Supplementary Safety Income (SSI) are monthly payments for people with disabilities and older people with little or no income or resources, and receive payments on the 1st of this month.

If the first one is on a weekend or holiday (as in September), payments are usually issued on the previous working day.

Those who received benefits before May 1997 also have specific payment dates.

How to report missing social security payments

What you can do:

According to the Social Security Bureau, those who have not received electronic payments on the scheduled date should first contact their bank or financial institution – which points out that this may “may delay posting your payment”.

Those who still need to report late, missing or stolen Social Security payments should call the Social Security Bureau at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), or contact their local Social Security Office.

“We will review the case and we will replace it if the payment expires,” the government said on its website.
