Ajla Tomljanović vs. Coco Goff predicts our first round of open

  • by admin

2023 U.S. Open champion Coco Gauff was disappointed with the 2024 championship defense and entered the fourth round. Now, she hopes to rebound in Queens and have a deep victory in the final 2024 Grand Slam.

She has won the Grand Slam title this season and won the French Open but then felt frustrated in Wimbledon's first round. Which version of Goff will appear this week?

She will face Australia's Ajla Tomljanović in the first round.

Ajla Tomljanović’s best result at the U.S. Open was the quarterfinals of 2022, but her game has stood out in the last few years. She entered the world's No. 1,211 this week, putting her in a tough position against No. 3 seed Goff. She has had success in both the second round of the U.S. Open over the past two years, and it is worth noting that the U.S. Open is her best professional grand slam with a 55% win percentage.

The U.S. Open is the position of Gauff's first Grand Slam title, winning here in 2023. Having said that, she has not had much success in other years, winning the quarterfinals in just another match in 2022. When she goes to court Tuesday and beyond, she will look for her own 2023 form.

Gauff is this favorite, with an odds of -3000, which is an implicit probability of 96.77%. The two faced only once in their careers, with Goff defeating the Australians 6-3, 6-0 in the Paris Olympics.

Gauff should have no problem winning here, but you may not want to come up with the -3000 price tag, so we should look for another way to bet on this game. Instead, I'm going to bet on Tomljanovic to cover +114 of the +6.5 game.

Recently, even with some losses, she has had some impressive outings. She took No. 16 Clara Tauson at the Open in Cincinnati and launched No. 2 Ekaterina Alexandrova at Abierto GNP Seguros last weekend.

This game will be closer than most people think.
