Philadelphia Eagles receiver Johnny Wilson will undergo end-of-season surgery for the knee and ankle, according to Jeff McLane of the inquirer.
It was indeed unfortunate news for Wilson, who turned around after the difficult start of training camp. The sophomore receiver caught the jump ball using a 6'6-inch 6'6-inch frame. Wilson believes that it will occasionally be a blocker, special team and occasional red zone target in 2025.
Wilson's injury gives the Hawks six wide receivers who are expected to be a 53-man squad. AJ Brown, Devonta Smith and Jahan Dotson were consolidated into top threes. After them, it was undrafted rookies Darius Cooper, Ainias Smith and recently acquired John Metchie III. Speaking of Metchie Tradethis move adds more receiver depth, which has aged well.
Hopefully Wilson will be able to recover fully, which will allow him to stay healthy in time during the 2026 offseason.
