- With Caitlin Clark still out and causing end-of-season damage to other point guards, Indiana’s fever signed Kyra Lambert to provide depth at that position.
Indianapolis – Indiana Fever announced Thursday that they have signed Kyra Lambert for a seven-day contract. Fever is eligible for the roster due to an injury to Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald at the end of the season.
Caitlin Clark stayed the same with a right groin injury, with the injury from Colson and McDonald leaving fever without a healthy point guard. The team signed Odyssey Sims to a tough contract last week to help alleviate some point guards’ problems.
Lambert is a 5-9 point guard who spent most of her career in Europe, spending time in France Greece (Toulouse), Latvia (TTT Riga), New Zealand (Whai), Slovakia (Slavia Banska banska bystrica) and Turkey (Karsiyaka). Last season, she won the Greek A1 League with Olympiastos, averaging 15.4 points on 42.1% shooting percentage, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals.
Lambert spent five seasons with Duke, scoring a total of 630 points and 245 assists in 95 games. She tore her ACL in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Championship, a sophomore, which took her away throughout the middle school campaign. She returned to the 2018-19 campaign and was recognized as a preseason candidate for the Nancy Lieberman Awards (Top Empove), but suffered from the ACL again in the preseason.
Lambert returned from a second tear and started in 21 of 30 games, averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals. She finished her career in Texas, averaging 7 points and 3.1 assists in 29 games.
Lambert will wear No. 15 and have a fever.
