Fever player suffers knee injury and falls

  • by admin

Uncasville, Connecticut – Sophie Cunningham must be helped on the floor after a second-quarter knee injury at the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

Suns guard Bria Hartley landed on the side of Cunningham's legs under the Connecticut basket as Hartley tried to lead to the sideline. The game continued as Cunningham grabbed her right leg and jumped to baseline, then dropped to the floor, grabbed her knee and yelled.

The fever issued a statement confirming the injury to her right knee and excluding her from the rest of the game.

The game stopped when the trainers tended toward Cunningham. Coach Stephanie White and Lexie Hull quickly jog from the fever to Cunningham. Marina Mabrey took a towel from the sunbath and separated Cunningham from the crowd until teammates were able to reach the floor.

This is the latest blow to the lineup of fever caused by injuries. Caitlin Clark has been on the field since July 15 with a right groin injury, while command linebackers Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson were injured in Phoenix on July 30.
