Thomas returns to practice
The Giants received some positive news on Tuesday, with left tackle Andrew Thomas passing through his body and returning to practice. Thomas was placed on a physical performance that he couldn't perform at the beginning of the camp and stayed until Tuesday morning. Now, the Giants will start to rise Thomas, hoping he will be ready for Washington’s season opener. But for now, the team starts left tackle one day every day.
“Today is the day we intend to try to get him back,” Dabour told the media on Tuesday. “We will slow down, but the trainers did a really good job and the AT did a good job. We will continue to build him.”
Thomas took part in individual drills Tuesday, an encouraging first step as he returned to the game shape. For the sixth week of last season, the linemen was a long road for the linemen. The 26-year-old is excited to be able to get back there with his teammates for the first time in a long time.
“It feels great,” Thomas said after practicing. “I joked with the training staff earlier today, on our cards, they were like you were on the date when you first started, and I looked down and it was like having trained and trying to do it right for 310 days in a row.
More reinforcements along the way
Thomas isn't the only player to return to practice Tuesday after missing a while. Most notably, Malik Nabers returned to the scene after not participating in the practice recently. As the team started to start for the regular season, the team started to prepare for him and participated in some drills.
Running back Cam Skattebo also returned to Tuesday's driving range after being eliminated for a while. The rookie participated in the team drill and it seemed like he hadn't missed the start of the training camp. Other players returning to practice on Tuesday were defenders Demetrius Flannigan Fowles, nervous finishing points Daniel Bellinger and Chris Manhertz, cornerbacks Tre Hawkins and Safety K'Von Wallace.
“I know it's a short turnaround, we have a game on Thursday, but I think it's important to take advantage of these days,” Daboll said before Tuesday's practice.
Dart's final (preseason) test
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart completed 26 of 26 passes in 35 yards for a total of 291 yards, two touchdowns, no turnovers, while adding 29 yards and additional touchdowns. More importantly, for Dart, the moment is not too big.
“Jaxson's process really has started with all the touch points we're with him,” Assistant General Manager Brandon Brown said Tuesday. “We know what we're getting. It's playing his strengths. Whether it's playing rhythm, his abilities, you've watched the last preseason, manipulating his arm slots in screen games, touching and just improving the other nuances of the fundamentals.”
“Obviously, our offense isn't the easiest way he gets guidance from Russ and Jamis every day, we can take him to the right and call it the rhythm, we don't have to force him into situations he's not satisfied with. From Otas to Otas to silicalicamp to the Game and of of early and of Option and the Excalion and and of of of of of of of ofore and of of of ofore. The rhythm he's playing and the rhythm we can improve, it's all for his strong suit.”
While it's unclear who will play or won't play in the pre-season final, it's safe to assume that Dart will extend the look, as this may be the last time we've seen a rookie on the court for some time.
